Mrs. Ellen Litsey Dead
Eleanor J. Litsey, born January 27, 1823, died June 22, 1903
Mrs. Ellen Litsey, one of the oldest and best beloved ladies of the county, died at her home in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood, on last Monday afternoon after a long illness. Her death was due to the infirmities of old age, she being at the time of her death 83 years of age. The deceased had been a resident of this county all of her life and was the widow of Mr. Uriah Litsey, a prominent citizen of the county, whose death occurred some twenty years ago. Her only surviving child is County Judge B. L. Litsey. Mrs. Litsey’s maiden name was Lewis, and she was closely related to the Hayes family, her mother being of that name. The deceased was a woman of strong character and of many excellent qualities of heart and mind. She had been a member of the Pleasant Grove church for many years, and her life was always that of a consistent christian.
The funeral, which was largely attended by friends, took place at Pleasant Grove Wednesday morning and Rev. W. T. Overstreet preached the funeral sermon.
