Mr. D. K. Vanarsdall died of pneumonia, Tuesday evening, at his late home, two miles from Harrodsburg, on the Lexington Pike.  He was 62 years of age and a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, where funeral exercises were held, Thursday, at 11 a.m. and interment took place in the cemetery there.  He was a soldier on the Federal side during the Civil War.  A wife survives him.

Not only sad, but rather unusual, was the circumstances attending the deaths last Wednesday of Mrs. C. O. Kennedy and Mrs. Lou Vanarsdall.  Living within a mile of each other, the same physician who was called to see each of them about three months ago, watched over the pain racked bodies, and witnessed the death of both which occurred just two hours apart.  They were members of the same church (Presbyterian), the same pastor conducted both funeral services, and their bodies were laid to rest on the same day, by the same undertaker, in the same cemetery (Providence).  The death of Mrs. Vanarsdall (who had suffered for many months from cancer) was hastened by peritonitis, while Mrs. Kennedy died of consumption.  The former leaves three sisters, with a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.  The latter leaves a husband, five children, a mother, six brothers, four sisters and many others whose hearts are sad because of her departure.  “The Lord was their shepherd.  Though they walked through the valley of the shadow of death; they feared no evil for He was with them.”
