EDWARDS

Another of the old and highly respected citizens of Washington County died last Thursday when Mrs. Lucy Edwards was called to her last reward.  The funeral services were conducted Saturday from the Methodist Church and the remains laid away on Cemetery Hill.  Rev. T.J. Wade conducted the services.

Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late Jack Edwards, a pioneer citizen of the county, and was born eighty years ago in the house in which she died.  About forty years ago she was united in marriage with Ben Edwards, who survives her.

Mrs. Edwards was an unassuming woman but was known for her great personal worth and high Christian character.  She had always been a firm member of her church and a true friend and neighbor.

Mrs. Lucy Edwards died at her home three miles from town last Thursday night of old age.  She was a lifelong resident of the county and lived all her life in the house where she died.  Eighty years ago the farm was owned by the late Jack Edwards, she being his only child inherited the place, and continued to occupy it until her death.  Forty years ago she was united in marriage to Mr. Ben Edwards who survives.  The Edwards were among the first settlers of the county and are highly respected.
