Mr. A. J. Crews, a highly respected citizen of the Salvisa community died Tuesday night of chronic Bright’s disease.  He was in his 78th year and left a wife and six children.  Funeral services will be conducted this morning at the residence at 10 o’clock by his pastor, Rev. E. J. Terrell, of the Methodist Church.  Interment will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery.  He was the Democratic nominee for magistrate in his district.

Mrs. Nancy Jane Crews passed away at her home on the Salvisa and Kirkwood Pike Tuesday morning, November 13, 1917, at 2:15 o’clock, after an illness of two years of heart trouble.  Mrs. Crews was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilkes H. Morgan, deceased, of Anderson County, and was born November 12, 1845, being 72 years of age when death called her.  She was married to Mr. Abraham J. Crews, of Mercer County, August 29, 1867, and he passed away October 31, 1905, at the age of 76 years.  Six living children survive them.  They are Mrs. W. E. St. John, Mrs. W. R. Nooe, Mrs. George Durr, Messrs. William L. Crews, Harrodsburg, Wilkes M. Crews, Kirkwood, and James M. Crews, Bondville.  One brother also survives her, Mr. Wade H. Morgan, of Anderson County.  Mrs. Crews joined the church at the age of fifteen years, united with the Friendship Baptist Church, in Anderson County.  At the time of her death she was identified with the Salvisa Baptist Church where her funeral was held by Rev. W. D. Moore, on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock.  The interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery at Harrodsburg, beside her husband.  Mrs. Crews was a woman of many lovable Christian characteristics and will be missed by the community for kindness of heart and true Christianity.
