This is a very helpful list for those with family living in Loudoun County, Virginia, during this time period. Note that the first name is the name of all whites above 16 – who should be taxed. The second name is who pays the tax. A son, in the first column, may be living with his father, and his father would pay the tax. If there is a hired hand, or someone living with the family, the tax would be the responsibility of the owner. For example, my John Linton had his son, Moses Linton, living with him, and also a man named John Perry. For my good friend Dick Linton, this Moses is your great-great-grandfather who moved from Loudoun County to Nelson County, Kentucky, in December of 1815.

Hi – I just ran across your blog – great job! I am interested in the Barkers from Charles Co., MD. Just started following them. I believe a William Barker, may have had a son, Nathaniel b. 1751 in Charles Co., who ended up in Fairfax Co., VA. Married a Letitia Ellzey. Does that ring a bell?
