Revolutionary War Soldiers – Adair County, Kentucky

JEREMIAH INGRAM – Jeremiah Ingram was a private in the Virginia Line.  Jeremiah entered the service in 1776.  He served in Woodford’s Brigade Company.  Jeremiah was born in Virginia in 1759.  He married Sarah Willis.  Jeremiah died in the year 1844.

JAMES IRVINE – James Irvine was a private in the Virginia Line.  He entered the service in May 1776, in Halifax County, Virginia.  James served in the 69^th Regiment under Captain Rogers, the regiment was commanded by Colonel Haynes Morgan.  He was appointed sergeant in the fall of 1780.  After the war he resided in Halifax County, Virginia, until 1796 or 1797.  In 1797 he moved to Jessamine County, Kentucky.  In 1799 he moved to Adair County, Kentucky.  James was born September 4, 1754, in Halifax County, Virginia.

WILLIAM JAMES – William James was a private in the North Carolina Line.  William entered the service in Caswell County, North Carolina.  At an early age his father moved to North Carolina, near Raleigh.  In 1803 William moved to Adair County, Kentucky.  William was born September 30, 1758, in Southampton County, Virginia.  He married Mary in 1781 or 1782.  William died July 24, 1824.

CHARLES JONES – Charles Jones was a private in the Virginia Line.  He entered the service in August 1775, in Bedford County, Virginia.  Charles served in Captain Campbell’s Company of the First Regiment – commanded by Colonel Patrick Henry’s Brigade on continental establishment and that he continued in said service until his term of service expired.  Charles moved from Bedford County, Virginia, after the war, to Adair County, Kentucky.  Charles was born in 1753 in Bedford County, Virginia.  He married Frances Thorpe, the daughter of Thomas and Sara Thorpe, on May 18, 1780, in Bedford County, Virginia.  Charles died in 1840 in Adair County, Kentucky.

AUGUSTINE (OR AUSTIN) LAWLESS – Augustine Lawless was a private in the Virginia Line.  Augustine was born in 1752.  He married Sarah “Sally” Dillion in Cumberland County, Virginia, November 14, 1781.

MATTHEW MCGLASSON – Matthew McGlasson was a private in the Virginia Line.  Matthew entered the service in October 1778, in Buckingham County, Virginia.  After the war he moved to Campbell County, Virginia, and in 1813 he moved to Cumberland County, Kentucky.  In 1830 he moved to Adair County, Kentucky.  Matthew was born January 3, 1756.

WILLIAM MCKINNEY – William McKinney was a private in the Virginia and Georgia Lines.  William entered the service in Captain Thomas Collier’s Company.  He was taken prisoner at Augusta by the British while serving in General  Williamson’s company.  He later served in the Battle of King’s Mountain.  William lived in Charlotte County, Virginia, and then moved to Adair County, Kentucky.  William was born in 1758 and he married Louisa M. Morrison.

JOHN MILLER – John Miller was a private in the Virginia Line.  He was born May 20, 1758.  He was the son of John Miller, Sr., and Elizabeth Montgomery.  John died July 12, 1839.

JOSEPH MILLER, SR. – Joseph Miller, Sr., was a private in the Virginia Line.  Joseph entered the service in May 1775, in Botetourt County, Virginia.  He lived in Amherst County, Virginia, until he was twenty years old.  He moved to Botetourt County, Virginia, where he remained until 1794 when he moved to Fayette County, Kentucky.  In 1797 he moved to Green County, Kentucky, which is now Adair County, Kentucky.  Joseph was born July 29, 1753, in Amherst County, Virginia.  He married Elizabeth Montgomery and secondly married Leslie Allen.  Joseph died June 11, 1839.

CHARLES MOORE – Charles Moore was a private in the North Carolina Line.  He entered the service in 1781 in Rockbridge County, Virginia.  Charles served in Captain Paxton’s Company.  He lived in North Carolina, then moved to Fayette County, Kentucky, and from there moved to Adair County, Kentucky.  Charles was born April 15, 1761, in Rockbridge County, Virginia.  He married Elizabeth Kirkham, September 3, 1789,in Woodford County, Kentucky.
