Don Carlos Dixon married Mary Jouett Allin, daughter of Major Thomas Allin and Mary Jouett. Mary’s father was the first county clerk for Mercer and remained at that post until June of 1833 when he died of cholera during the epidemic of that year. Her father’s signature appears on the couple’s marriage license. Mary Jouett Allin Dixon died before her father, since in his will dated 1830 he ‘gives land in Muhlenberg County to his grandson, Tillman A. Dixon, son of Don Carlos Dixon and his deceased daughter Polly, now deceased’.
I do hereby certify, that security is taken in my office, according to law, for a license to issue for a marriage intended to be solemnized between Don C. Dixon and Mary J. Allin, these are therefore to license and permit you to join together in the holy state of matrimony the said Don C. Dixon and Mary J. Allin, according to the rites and ceremonies of your church; and for so doing, this shall be your sufficient warrant. Given under my hand, this 1st day of November 1815. Thomas Allin, C.C.

Searching for theparents of my great grandfather, Thomas Bryant, b. 1830 Anderson Co. d. 20Sep1910. He was listed as “father” in the 1910 census, living in Duganville, Mercer Co. with his son Delbert. I have been unable to locate a birth or death certificates. Since he probably died in at his son’s house in Mercer County there should be a death certificate or other documentation. Do you know if those records are available? I try to get back to Lexington to visit my sister at least once a year, and would make a point to visit Harrodsburg if there were records there of use.
Thomas’ daughter and other relations are buried at Antioch Christian church in Washington Co. But I see no reference to Thomas or his wife Miriam/Marium McMichael in Find A Grave there. Attempts to contact the church have yielded no response. I feel certain that, since that church was just around the corner from where he lived on Sulfur Creek Road, that he and family probably went to Sunday services there, and the grave is yet to be located.

Was his name Thomas Jefferson Bryant? I found parents William Bryant and Susan Preston of Fayette County. This Thomas Bryant was married first to a Paulina House for a very short time, probably died during childbirth. Then married Miriam McMichael, many children from this marriage. Is this your great-grandfather?
