While in Kentucky last year we visited Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson County, across the Ohio River from Evansville, Indiana. Fernwood Cemetery was established in 1849 and is located at 840 Madison St. in Henderson (city and county have same name).
Sacred to the memory of James B. Pollitt, Esqr., a native of Maryland, born January 6th 1791, died October 28th 1832. The integrity of his conduct and the amiability of his temper endeared him to a wide circle of friends.

The three McAhan brothers were “bathing” in a pond near their home on June 12, 1901, when one stepped into a deep area and called for help. The other two brothers attempted to aid him but all three drowned.
So sad! Their family must have been devastated.
