Montgomery – Wight Buried at St. Rose

IMG_5799B. E. Montgomery, born October 16, 1792, died October 22, 1872.  St. Rose Catholic Church Cemetery, Washington County, Kentucky.

Benedict E. Montgomery was the son of Charles Montgomery and Mary Ann Elder, born in Charles County, Maryland, October 16, 1792.  He came to Washington County, Kentucky, with his family about 1795.  Bianna Wight was also born in Maryland, March 14, 1795, to William Wight and Rebecca Blandford.  Yesterday I posted their marriage bond dated September 2, 1817.  Together they had fourteen children:  Elizabeth Jane, Rosella, Isabella Catherine, James William, Mary Lettie, Julia Ann, Margaret Ellen, Martha Frances, Charles Thomas, Hetty Ann, Richard, Susan Mary, Emily Polin and Ann Catherine Montgomery.  Benedict died at the age of 80 October 22, 1872.  Bianna died September 14, 1885 at the age of 90.  They are buried in St. Rose Catholic Church Cemetery.

Benedict was an elder brother to my 3rd great-grandfather William Peter Montgomery.

Mary Ann Elder was born 252 years ago – November 15, 1761 – in Charles Count, Maryland.  She was the daughter of Charles Elder and Julia Ward.  Mary Ann married Charles Montgomery January 29, 1787.  They had 10 children:  John Henry, Samuel Louis, Anne Frances, Benedict Elder, Mary Ann, Mary Eleanor, William Peter, Ann Rebecca, Elizabeth Margaret and Charles Pius Montgomery.  The family moved to Washington County, Kentucky.

Bibiana Wight and Benedict Elder Montgomery were married 196 years ago – September 2, 1817 – in Washington County, Kentucky.  Both were originally from Charles County, Maryland.  Bibiana was the daughter of William Wight and Rebecca Blandford.  Benedict was the son of Charles Montgomery and Mary Ann Elder.  Benedict and Bibiana had 14 children:  Elizabeth Jane, Rosella, Isabella Catherine, James William, Mary Lettie, Julia Ann, Margaret Ellen, Martha Frances, Charles Thomas, Hetty Ann, Richard, Susan Mary, Emily Polin and Ann Catherine Montgomery.  Both lived to the advanced age of 80 and 90 respectively.

Mary Ann Elder Montgomery died 171 years ago – July 19, 1842 – in Washington County, Kentucky.  Mary Ann was the daughter of Charles Elder and Julia Ward, born November 15, 1761, in Maryland.  She married Charles Montgomery January 29, 1787, and they immigrated to Kentucky.  Mary Ann and Charles had 10 children:  John Henry, Samuel Louis, Anne Frances, Benedict Elder, Mary Ann, Mary Eleanor, William Peter, Ann Rebecca, Elizabeth Margaret and Charles Pius Montgomery.

Mary Ann Montgomery was born 219 years ago – July 9, 1794 – in Charles County, Maryland.  Mary Ann was the daughter of Charles Montgomery and Mary Ann Elder.  I have no information about marriage.  Mary Ann’s siblings were John Henry, Samuel Louis, Anne Frances, Benedict Elder, Mary Eleanor, William Peter, Ann Rebecca, Elizabeth Margaret and Charles Pius Montgomery.  The family moved to Washington County, Kentucky, about 1795.

William Peter Montgomery died 180 years ago – June 19, 1833 – during the cholera epidemic in Washington County, Kentucky.  William was the son of Charles Montgomery and Mary Ann Elder, born October 24, 1798.  William married Mary Yates January 21, 1822.  William and Mary had 6 children:  Charles W., Martha E., Henry L., Mary Rebecca, Frances Edwina and William Peter Montgomery, who was born six weeks after his father’s death.

Charles Montgomery died 204 years ago – April 26, 1809 – in Washington County, Kentucky.  Charles was the son of Peter Montgomery and Margaret Hagan, born July 25, 1750, in  Charles County, Maryland.  He married Mary Ann Elder January 29, 1787.  Charles and Mary Ann moved their family to Washington County, Kentucky, about 1795.  They had 10 children:  John Henry, Samuel Louis, Anne Frances, Benedict Elder, Mary Ann, Mary Eleanor, William Peter, Ann Rebecca, Elizabeth Margaret and Charles Pius  Montgomery.
