Gravestones from St. Charles Cemetery – Marion County

St. Charles Church was my home parish for about 15 years – from the time my family moved from Lebanon, the county seat of Marion, until my marriage to Ritchey. At that time I was Phyllis Hill and played organ for the 10:00 a.m. Mass. So long ago. At this time both parents are buried in the cemetery, as well as other relatives. I want to share with you some of the photographs Ritchey and I have taken over the years.

  1. Phylis’s
You know you are close to Loretto now when you show us grave stones in St. Charles. I have so many Miles relatives buried there. The next time I go I will have to look up some of these names. Thank you for all you do.

  2. Thank you so much.
Most of these family names are in my family tree, Mattingly, Jarboe, Thompson, and McAtee.

  3. My GG Grandparents are James Arnold Jarboe and Ann Harriett Luckett . You show their monument. I have visited that cemetery.
The Jarboes came to Ky in 1787 as part of the Catholic migration. James parents John Thomas Jarboe and Dorothy Hill are buried at
St Rose. Their son , brother of James Arnold, was the prior there; Civil War priest Joseph Thomas Jarboe OP. He was also the Vicar of the Diocese of Nashville
    Thanks for the pictures
