It’s been a while since I’ve given you a marriage list, but I came across this one for 1858 in Hart County, Kentucky. 38 total marriages for the year – not a huge amount. In 1860 the census listed slightly over 10,000 individuals living in Hart County. What I found most interesting about his list was the detail in each listing. The groom’s page gave the date of marriage, his name, residence, age, which number marriage and his place of birth. The bride’s side gave her name, resident, age, number of marriage, place of birth and name of the minister who married the couple (or other information!). One couple ran away to Indiana to marry and came back to live in Hart County. This bride was not the youngest to marry, so perhaps her parents weren’t too excited about her choice of husband!
