Major Frederick Gustave Bracht – From Prussia to Grant County, Kentucky

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on October 12, 2022 • ( Leave a comment )

After an illness of three weeks, I am anxious to share more family records with you.  Today we visit Grant County, in the northern part of the state, just south of Kenton, Boone and Gallatin counties, on the border with Ohio and Indiana.  Ritchey and I visited Grant […]

Daniel Boone – Early Pioneer – Formation of Boonesborough

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on September 17, 2022 • ( 2 Comments )

I came across this 1933 article written to commemorate Daniel Boone and his adventures and exploration of Kentucky. Much has been written about this famous man and his family, but I thought the letter written by Colonel Floyd and sent to Col. William Floyd, concerning the rescue, was […]

1840 Will of Ben Proctor – Logan County

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on September 12, 2022 • ( 1 Comment )

Francis and Bernetty Morgan Milburn Buried in Mt. Kenton Cemetery – McCracken County, Kentucky

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on August 31, 2022 • ( 1 Comment )

This beautiful gravestone of Francis and Bernetty Morgan Milburn is located in Mt. Kenton Cemetery in McCracken County, Kentucky, in the area south of Paducah known as Lone Oak. The person who made the gravestone inadvertently added an extra ‘L’ to their name! But that doesn’t detract from […]

1658 Will of John Lloyd – St. Mary’s County, Maryland

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on August 30, 2022 • ( 2 Comments )

Sometimes I will check out the first page in the first will book of a county.  I like to see who was first who died leaving a will.  I’m sure there are many, especially in the earlier days, who didn’t leave a will.  Perhaps they had nothing to […]

Allen Logan Family – Buried in Buffalo Springs Cemetery – Lincoln County

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on August 19, 2022 • ( Leave a comment )

How can it be said a gravestone is just a gravestone?  Each and every one, regardless of the size or carvings or decorations, is a memento of the person whose name is on the stone.  Sometimes we are given two pieces of information – birth and death dates.  […]

Petrie Family Buried in Frankfort Cemetery – Franklin County

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on August 13, 2022 • ( 1 Comment )

While looking through my photographs taken at the Frankfort Cemetery I came upon a very ornate stone, that of Thomas M. Petrie, born April 10, 1853, died April 8, 1882. Thomas died at the age of 29 – a young man. The first item on the gravestone that […]

Kindle Book – Kentucky Kindred Cookbook – $9.99

How I love to cook for my family and friends. Not a professional by any means, many of my recipes have been handed down from my mother, my grandmothers, and my aunt. I love to make these dishes since it brings back wonderful memories of those days in the kitchen with those who are now gone. In that way I suppose it is partially a genealogy cookbook! And speaking of genealogists we not only look backward, but forward. So, too, with cooking. And so there are many recipes made for and with my children. As adults we love to cook together, the kitchen crowded, foods made for each and every time we are together. Making memories with each mouthful!

CD – Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Cemetery Photos – $21.95 – Click to puchase through Paypal.

Included on this CD are 856 names, 740 photos. This has been a five year project, taking photos beginning in the fall of 2008 and through 2012. I’ve just recently put the list together. This project is dear to me because my fifth great-grandfather, Captain John Linton, helped build this church. Many of my Linton, Moran and Edwards family members are buried here. Also, many of the early settlers of Washington County were laid to rest here. In a more modern happenstance, my husband’s father was minister of this church in the early 1960’s. Who knew we would share this common piece of history? Included is an alphabetical listing of those buried at Pleasant Grove, including birth and death dates, and sometimes additional information. Just click on the number in the photo column and the photo will pop up.
