Minute Book, page 68-69, October 23, 1752

Ordered that James Foley, John Basye, John O’Banion and Solomon Jones, or any three of them, being first sworn before some Justice of the Peace for this County appraise all and singular the Estate of William Nelms, deceased, which shall be presented to their view.

The last Will and Testament of Isaac Suttle, deceased, presented in Court by Joseph Suttle and Isaac Suttle, Executors, therein named who made oath thereto and being proved by the oaths of the witnesses thereto is ordered to be recorded.  Joseph Suttle, Isaac Suttle, Benjamin Suttle and John Arnold acknowledged a bond for the faithful administration of the Estate of Isaac Suttle, deceased, which is ordered to be recorded.  Ordered that Joseph Hudnall, John Garner, William Morgan and Vincent Garner, or any three of them being first sworn before some Justice of the Peace for this County appraise all and singular the Estate of Isaac Suttle, deceased, which shall be presented to their view and that the executors return an inventory thereof to the next Court.

Foushee Tebbs, on of the Inspectors at Quantico, made oath that there is remaining in his hands seven thousand five hundred and twenty pounds of tobacco for transfer notes unpaid.

Isaac Judd acknowledged a deed to James Belfare which is admitted to record and Lettice, the wife of the said Isaac, being first privately examined and thereto consenting, relinquished her right of Dower.

An Inventory and Appraisement of the Estate of Joseph Crump, deceased, was returned and ordered to be recorded.  Present:  Robert Wickliff, Bertrand Ewell.  Absent:  Benjamin Grayson, Gentleman.  Ordered that Israel Holson, John Martin and Nathaniel Barton be added to Mr. Wickliff’s list of tithables.

Indentures of Lease and Release from Benjamin Newton to William Colclough was proved by the oaths of the witnesses and admitted to record and Jane, the wife of the said Benjamin, being first privately examined and thereto consenting relinquished her right of Dower.

Ordered that John Nevill, John Nevill, Jr., and Gabriel Nevill, Negroes George, Vernes, be added to Mr. Ewell’s list of Tithables.  Ordered that Thomas Smith and John Smith be added to Mr. Ewell’s list of Tithables.

Articles of Agreement between Roger Chamberlain and Betty Triplett was proved by the oath of George Brett as also a bond for the Performance of Covenants.

John Linton is appointed guardian of John Hancock, who together with John Peyton and George Brett acknowledged a bond for the same which is ordered to be recorded.

Margaret Chatwin against John Rector, In Dower, The suit is agreed, defendant paying costs, etc.
