William W. Davis

Mr. William W. Davis, of McAfee, in this county, died of consumption, Wednesday morning.  He was a son of Mr. John W. Davis, of Texas, and a grandson of the late Peter R. Dunn.  He was only forty-seven years old, but had done much good during his short life.  His death is a sad bereavement, not only to his immediate family but also to the entire community, especially in New Providence Church, of which he was a ruling elder, and superintendent of the Sunday School.  His widow and two children, Miss Bessie and Mrs. William Lapsley, have the deepest sympathy of their many friends.  The funeral was conducted Thursday, by Rev. S. F. Taylor, pastor of New Providence Church, and the interment was in the old graveyard where for more than a century the ancestors of the deceased have been buried, as one by one their spirits passed from time into eternity.  The deceased was a most exemplary Christian gentleman, having many friends and not enemies.  He was a most worthy member of the Masonic order and all the brotherhood that could attended the funeral.  He was a Past Master of the Masonic Fraternity.
