We are going short, sweet and simple today! The 1796 marriage bond of Abraham Kephart and Rebekah Thorn was dated March 18, 1796, in Shelby County, Kentucky. Abraham was the son of Hans Jacob Kephart and Barbara Stauffer, both born in Germany. Rebekah was the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Thorn of Pennsylvania. I cannot say if the Samuel Thorn listed on the marriage bond is Rebekah’s brother or father. When Henry County was formed from Shelby in 1798 the Kephart’s lived in the new county. Abraham and Rebekah were the parents of Martha, Abraham, Sarah, John, Margaret, Samuel, Hannah, Elizabeth, Rebekah, Mary and Ellen.

I believe these may be my ancestors. I’ve been searching for years looking for the parents of my 3rd Great grandfather, Andrew Taylor Kephart. The 1850 census shows him in Cherokee County, NC. His birth place is listed as Kentucky. I am looking for a DNA dependent to attach him to this family.
