Ran Hill, age 71, died at 1:30 Monday afternoon, November 29, 1943, at his home on Knob Lick Road, near this city, of a heart ailment. He had been ill several days but had been critically ill only a short time before death, which came rather unexpectedly.
He was a son of Isaiah and Lydia Ann Hill and was born and reared and spent his entire life in this county. For forty-two years he and family had lived on the same farm.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Kate Hill; three sons, Thomas, Ernest and Hobe Hill; one daughter, Mrs. George Coulter, all of this county; seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Hill, Raywick, and W. F. Hill, Bardstown, and one sister, Mrs. John Hardin, Scioto, Ill.
Mr. Hill’s body was removed to Sutherland’s Funeral Home in this city and prepared for burial, remaining there until time for the funeral, which was conducted in the Baptist Church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon by the pastor, the Rev. Bailey F. Davis, assisted by the Rev. C. F. Allen of the Methodist church. Interment was on Cemetery Hill
Pallbearers were Robert Hall, Clarence Howard, John Hall, Pascal Keeling, Leo Anderson and Tommy Spalding.
