DEATH’S CALL

Answered by Mrs. W. D. Finnell While Visiting in Tennessee

The many friends here of Mrs. Sarah E. Finnell were shocked and grieved by the news of her death Tuesday at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. J. D. Green, of Brownsville, Tenn. She left here some weeks ago in excellent health to visit her granddaughter, who was to accompany her to Texas where they were to be guest of Mrs. L. E. Eastland, daughter of Mrs. Finnell and mother of Mrs. Green. They had just returned to Brownsville when she became ill and death overtook her August 11. Mrs. Bush W. Allin and Mr. Charles Finnell, of this city, and Mrs. E. B. Kennedy, of Ashland, were summoned to her bedside and were with her when the end came, and accompanied the body to this place, reaching here Wednesday evening. The funeral was held Thursday morning at the Baptist church at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. F. F. Brown, the pastor, assisted by Rev. R. N. Simpson and Dr. Bunyan McLeod. The interment was at the Providence Cemetery. Many handsome floral tributes testified to the esteem and affection in which this good woman was held. Mrs. Finnell was born in this county and has resided here and at Salvisa all her life. She had been for many years a devout member of the Baptist faith and her life has been a long record of Christianity and unpretentious goodness and faith. There are many who will be better for having known her. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. L. E. Eastland, of Bovina, Texas, Mrs. Bush W. Allin, of this city, Mrs. E. B. Kennedy, of Ashland, and Mr. Charles Finnell, also of Harrodsburg. In addition to these three sisters are left, Mrs. Eliza Smith, Indianapolis, Mrs. H. D. Willis and Mrs. Mantie Allin, of this place. Mrs. Charles Wolf and Miss Lulie Turpin, of Louisville, came here to attend the funeral.
