Vincent family headstones from Grassland Cemetery in Edmonson County.

James Hayes Vincent, born September 15, 1816, died July 12, 1913. Sarah, wife of H. Vincent, born April 15, 1823, died October 1, 1905.

James K. Polk Vincent, October 15, 1857 – November 18, 1934 (Son of James and Sarah Vincent). Georgia Ann Lindsey, his wife, December 4, 1859 – May 21, 1941.

Jacob Vincent, May 3, 1867 – May 15, 1945.

Minnie Vincent, October 12, 1867-February 19, 1936. Wife of Jacob Vincent.

McCoy Vincent, son of Jake and Minnie Vincent, May 6, 1906 – August 24, 1922.

Julia, wife of Jesse Vincent, March 14, 1893 – November 29, 1918. A light from our home is gone.

Flostian Vincent, November 27, 1918 – December 1, 1918. Gone to be an angel.

Since the dates of death are so close I believe this must be the child of Jesse and Julia Vincent.

Hiram M. Vincent, born October 13, 1848, died July 6, 1919. Enlisted September 1, 1864, discharged September 14, 1865, Co. G, 17th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry. Nancy A., his wife, born November 3, 1845, died Jun 19, 1934.

This project is dear to me because my fifth great-grandfather, Captain John Linton, helped build this church. Many of my Linton, Moran and Edwards family members are buried here. Also, many of the early settlers of Washington County were laid to rest here. In a more modern happenstance, my husband’s father was minister of this church in the early 1960’s. Kindle Book – Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church Cemetery Photos – Old Cemetery – $8.29

Thank you for purchasing this book. There are two parts to the cemetery of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church – the old part is where the original settlers, the older people, were buried. This part is rather small. The newer part is much larger. Only the older cemetery is included in this book. There is a path up the hill from the new cemetery to the old cemetery, at the top of which is a monument in concrete which includes pieces of broken stones. What a wonderful way to display them – and so much better than throwing them away! This book includes photos of all the stones in the older part of the cemetery, and some from the new, a total of 70 names. Included are photos of the pathway, monument stones, church and historical marker.
