Jerome Austin Thompson is my great grandfather. I am trying to obtain information pertaining to Jerome’s maternal grandmother, Rebecca Mattingly I believe. Any help would be appreciated.
Phil, I’ve found an 1850 census record for Washington County, KY, that lists Edward Thompson, 49, as head of household, Teresa, 49, his wife, children Austin, 25, Henry, 21, Richard, 20, Charles, 15, Ellen, 11, and Edward 7. In the same household are also Susannah Cissell, 39, with child Richard, 6. Also George Pike, 55, listed as blind, and Teresa A. Edelen, 2. I checked the Washington County marriages but found nothing for John Pike and Rebecca Mattingly. They could have married in Nelson County, or since there were many Mattingly’s that came from Maryland during the late 1700’s and early 1800’s, they may have been married when they came to Kentucky. I hope this helps!
Thanks so much for the note, My data does indicate that Rebecca and John were married in 1792 in Nelson County.
Thanks for the info. The Teresa A. Edelen listed in the census is my grt grt gma. Teresa Edelen’s Mother died when she was an infant and her grn parents, Teresa Pike and Edward Thompson must have had guardianship.
I believe Teresa’s father was either Robert or his brother, Richard Edelen.
If anyone has information, i would love to
know!!!
Teresa ann Edelen married a Robert Boyle in Ky and moved to Mattoon Illinois in the 1870’s where she raised 6 children and died in 1932.
