Messrs John K. and Morris Wilson have gone to Chicago where they will engage in work.
Mr. Lewis Franklin and wife, and Ben Tennill and wife, of Camden, were guests of John Sutherland and family Sunday.
Mr. Dee Shewmaker, wife and children of White Hall, Bob Shewmaker, wife and daughter of Fenwick, Mrs. Maria Bailey, daughter, Miss Lula of Lawrenceburg, Mrs. Parlee Nicholas and son of Tablow, Mrs. Jane Durr of Seaville were the pleasant guests at the home of Mr. Peter Shewmaker and sister, Mrs. Mary Hughes, on last Thursday. Just two years ago they met at the home of Mr. Dee Shewmaker to spend a happy day with their aged father, Uncle Fantley Shewmaker. We wish Uncle “Fant” may live to spend more happy days with his sister and children. He is 80 years old.
Miss Mattie Brown has returned to Louisville after spending the summer at this place.
Mr. Clay Drury and Miss Effie Hoskins of Anderson County were quietly married at the home of Rev. J. A. Sims on last Thursday evening.
Miss Lula Earl Merritt has gone to Louisville to spend several weeks with her sister, Mrs. Edward Wilder.
Dr. W. W. Hyatt and wife have gone to St. Louis to spend several weeks at the World’s Fair. We wish them a pleasant journey.
W. L. Wells and Fred Sutherland spent Sunday in Louisville.
Charles Blanton of Boston spent Saturday and Sunday with W. S. Gibbs.
Mr. Lester Gibbs and sister May Bell have gone to Harrodsburg where they will enter school under the instruction of Prof. C. C. Bell.
We notice in your columns where our popular teacher and friend, G. W. Colvin, began his school in your town the 12th. We wish him success and trust he may have the best school ever taught in Springfield.
G. W. Morris left our town for Bloomfield last Sunday where he will superintend the farm of Dr. A. M. Shields.
Mr. H. T. Scruggs and wife are spending a month at the World’s Fair. They will go from St. Louis to Denton, Texas, to visit relatives.
Mr. Everett Scruggs and Miss Lillie Riley were married on last Sunday evening at the residence of Rev. J. A. Sims. May joy be ever theirs.
Miss Addie Sharp of Dallas, Texas, is visiting relatives at this place.
