On our last adventure Ritchey and I visited the Old Millersburg Cemetery which is just past the Bourbon County line into Nicholas County – going north on US Hwy 68. It is an old cemetery that probably hasn’t been used for burial in quite some time. Today I will share with you photos of the Wright family gravestones, in the fenced plot above.
Thomas Wright, born April 15, 1801, died April 15, 1853
Thomas Wright, father of the family was born and died on the same day of the same month – he was exactly 52 years of age at his death. I checked but could find no additional information on Thomas Wright.
Martha, wife of Thomas Wright, born October 30, 1799, died July 3, 1853
Unfortunately I do not know Martha’s maiden name. She and Thomas both died in 1853, a few months apart.
Morgan Wright, Jr., born December 29, 1824, died April 25, 1825
Sarah J. Wright, born May 29, 1837, died August 19, 1846
Since these two children are on the same large stone as Thomas and Martha Wright, they must be their children – even though Morgan is considered ‘Jr.’
As you can see, this stone is half-buried and unreadable. It is inside the fence of the Wright plot.
Infant son of William and Rosannah Kenney, born August 2, died August 12, 1852
Perhaps a grandchild of William and Martha?
Our Little Baby Clara, born April 28, 1857, died October 1857
This stone is difficult to read. I can’t read the day of death. There are two names at the bottom of the stone, William and Serena Kenney. Again, another grandchild?
This plot is only a small portion of the Old Millersburg Cemetery. I have much more to share with you at a later date!
