Know all men by these presents that we, Jordan Smith and Barton Smith, are held and firmly bound unto his excellency, James Garrard, Esquire, Governor of Kentucky and his successors in the penal sum of fifty pounds current money, the payment of which well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated the 12th day of February, 1801.
The condition of this obligation is such that if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Jordan Smith and Anna McIntire, step-daughter to the above bound Barton Smith, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue.
