Daniel Earlywine Weds Mary Fight – 1786 Bourbon County

img_1263Bourbon County was formed in 1786, and was ‘named for the royal French family who aided the colonies in the War of Independence.  Bourbon was one of nine Virginia counties formed before Kentucky became a state in 1792.’

On to the main attraction, the marriage record.  This one is particularly interesting since it was written in Bourbon County, Virginia.  The governor at that time was Patrick Henry, of ‘Give me liberty, or give me death!’ fame.

Gilbert Fight is bondsman for this marriage.  Is he Mary Fight’s father, brother or uncle?  Probably one of the three.
