Good morning, everyone!  Today we go to an early newspaper for obituaries – from 1821.  Unfortunately the 1821 Kentucky Reporter editions are not on www.newspapers.com – a great source for genealogists!

  • Mary Tandy, consort of Willis Tandy, of Fayette County. She died in February, 1821.  R 2/19.  The Lexington Public Advertiser recorded that she was the only daughter of Rev. Robert Cloud, and that she died January 18, 1821, aged 24 years.
  • Bledsoe, consort of Capt. Richard Bledsoe, of Fayette County. Died in February, 1821.  R 2/19
  • William Crow, of Lincoln County. Died January 23, 1821, aged 68 years.  He was one of the first settlers of Kentucky.  R 2/19
  • John Watson, of Woodford County. Died April 12, 1821.  Obituary.  R 4/16
  • Gist, consort of Henry Gist, of Paris, Kentucky. Died in April, 1821.  4/16
  • Benjamin Smith, of Fayette County. Died May 8, 1821, aged 63 years.  R 5/14
  • Miss Eliza West, daughter of Capt. W. West, of Lexington. Died Wednesday May 9, 1821.  R 5/14
  • Samuel T. Davenport, of Kentucky. Died in Detroit, Michigan, April 25, 1821, aged 31 years.  R 5/14
  • William Garnet Brown, of Woodford County. Died May 10, 1821, aged 19 years.  He was a son of Oliver Brown.    R 6/4
  • John H. Clark, of Louisville. Died in June, 1821.  R 6/11
  • Eliza Akers, consort of Peter Akers, of Flemingsburg, editor of the Flemingsburg Star. Died in June 1821.  R 6/18
  • Thomas Ellis, of Fayette County. Killed by a fall from his horse, Monday, June 11, 1821, aged about 60 years.  R 6/18
  • D. Mariano, a resident of Lexington since 1818. He was a native of Italy, and died in Washington, D.C., Sunday evening, June 10, 1821, aged 37 years.  Obituary.  R 7/9
  • William Allen, of Fayette County. Died July 27, 1821.  R 7/30
  • Patsey Henley, consort of Ozborn Henley, late Steward of Transylvania University. Died in Lexington August 1, 1821.  R 8/6
  • Miss Elizabeth C. Owen, of Versailles. Died July 29, 1821.  R 8/6
  • Nancy Mitchell, consort of John Mitchell, and daughter of the late Daniel Boone. Died in July or August, 1821, and is supposed to have been buried in Mason County.  R 8/6
  • Patterson, consort of John Patterson, of Lexington. Died Friday August, 3, 1821.   R 8/6
  • Major John Harrison, of Louisville. Died in July, 1821, aged 67 years.
  • James L. Heran, of Lexington. Died Sunday evening, August 21, 1821, aged 32 years.  R 8/13
  • Roderic Perry, of Woodford County. Died August 9, 1821, aged 45 years.  R 8/20
  • Smith, a native of Scotland. Died at Transylvania, August 8, 1821, aged 107 years.  She married at 45, had nine children and lived to see her great-great-grandchildren.  R 8/20 [I believe her age must be a typo – probably meant married at 15.]
  • Edmund Rice, of Jefferson County. Died in August, 1821, aged 87 years.  R 8/20
  • Aaron Ross, of Maysville. Died in August, 1821.  R 8/20
  • Harvey S. Bradford, of Scott County, and formerly of Port Gibson, Mississippi. Died August 5, 1821.  R 8/20
  • Thomas Kennedy, of Covington. Died in August, 1821, aged 80 years.  R 8/20
  • Dulcenea Payne, consort of Col. Jilson Payne, of Montgomery County. Died August 15, 1821, aged 50 years.  See obituary in R 8/20.
  • Joseph Bickley, of Mason County. Died August 31, 1821, aged 27 years.  Obituary.  R 9/3
  • William Breckenridge, youngest son of the late Captain Alexander Breckenridge, of Lexington. Died August 30, 1821.  R 9/10
  • William Cochrane, a cashier of the United States’ branch Bank of Lexington. Died Monday at noon, September 10, 1821.    R 9/10
  • John W. Payson, of Lexington. Died in Shippingport, September 10, 1821.  R 9/10
  • Daniel Neil Brawford, formerly a professor at Transylvania University. Died in Jefferson County, Missouri, in August, 1821.  R 9/10
  • George Robinson, of Carlisle, Kentucky. Died in September, 1821, aged 58 years.  R 9/10
  • James Ely, Jr., of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Died in September, 1821.  R 9/24
  • Thomas McCurdy, of Logan County. Died in September, 1821.  R 9/24
  • Priscilla May, wife of William L. May, of Edwardsville. Died in September, 1821.  R 9/24
  • Percival Butler, of Gallatin County. Died in September, 1821.  He was Adjutant General of Kentucky for many years.  R 9/24
  • Edmund Butler, youngest son of Gen. Percival Butler, of Gallatin County. Died in September, 1821.  R 9/24
  • Rebecca Robins, of Mason County. Died in September, 1821.  R 9/24
  • William H. Carter, son of W. R. Carter, of Louisville. Died in September, 1821, aged 19 years.  R 9/24
  • Baker, consort of Joseph Baker, of Louisville. She died in September, 1821.  R 9/24
  • John Talbot, deputy sheriff of Jefferson County. He died on September 12, 1821.  R 9/24
  • William McDowell, of Bowling Green. Died September 19, 1821, aged 59 years.  R 10/1
  • Eliza McDowell, consort of W. S. McDowell, of Bowling Green. Died September 19, 1821.  R 10/1
  • Ann Garner, consort of John Garner, Sr., of Bowling Green. Died September 19, 1821.  R 10/1
  • Mary Lea, of Mason County. Died in September, 1821, aged 73 years.  R 10/1
  • George Chamblin, of Bourbon County. Died Monday, September 23, 1821, aged 73 years.  R 10/1
  • Robert Barr, one of the first settlers of Lexington. He died in Franklin, Missouri, September 8, 1821, aged 72 years.    R 10/1

  • Jane Wilkins, consort of Charles Wilkins, of Lexington. Died Thursday evening, October 18, 1821.  R 10/22

  • Henry Turner, formerly of Fayette County. Died at Natchez, in November, 1821.  R 12/3
  • Mary Keen, Sr., of Fayette County. Died at S. Keen’s in Lexington, Saturday, December 1, 1821, aged 78 years.  R 12/3
  • Joseph Kincaid, of Woodford County. Died in November, 1821, at an advanced age.  R 12/3
  • Thomas Dollarhide, a Senator from Pulaski County. Died at Frankfort in November, 1821.  R 12/3
  • Priscilla Calmes, consort of Gen. Marquis Calmes. She died November 18, 1821.  R 12/17

  1. Quick Question: Is there away to find more information about Thomas Kennedy, of Covington. Died in August, 1821, aged 80 years. R 8/20 ?

    He might be a descendant or relation of my Great-Grandmother Florence Kennedy Lyen.
