I have a beautiful photograph of a lovely young woman to share with you today.  Her white dress is stunning with its multitude of ruffles.  White stockings and shoes complete the outfit.  A simple strand of pearls around the neck only adds to the delicate look. Perhaps she […]

1783 Stafford – Westerfield Marriage Bond – Lincoln County

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on June 23, 2019 • ( 1 Comment )

This 1783 marriage bond is beautifully written by Willis Green, Lincoln County Clerk.  At that date in Kentucky’s history the entire state was divided into three counties – and Chickasaw lands in the far western part. Think about how many of today’s counties were included in the original […]

Shumate Family Buried at Old Paint Lick Cemetery – Garrard County

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on June 20, 2019 • ( Leave a comment )

Old Paint Lick Cemetery in rural Garrard County is one of my favorite places to visit.  It’s beautiful with gently rolling land, the grass a lovely shade of green in spring.  Tall trees, many of which have been struck by lightning over the years, give it a very […]

Bonta – DeMott Family Cemetery – Mercer County

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on June 17, 2019 • ( 11 Comments )

This photograph was taken from the side of the cemetery.  From the road you see only trees.  Vantage Engineering PLC would be located directly behind you if you were taking this photograph, beside the cemetery.  They have a small parking area. When Ritchey came home yesterday, he said, […]

1890’s Photograph

By Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research on June 16, 2019 • ( Leave a comment )

This photograph is a gorgeous example of the late 1890’s leg ‘o mutton sleeves.  What a large amount of material was used just for the two sleeves.  This dress is an excellent example of the high necked, very elaborately decorated costume of that time period.  The woman looks […]

Kindle Book – Kentucky Kindred Cookbook – $9.99

How I love to cook for my family and friends. Not a professional by any means, many of my recipes have been handed down from my mother, my grandmothers, and my aunt. I love to make these dishes since it brings back wonderful memories of those days in the kitchen with those who are now gone. In that way I suppose it is partially a genealogy cookbook! And speaking of genealogists we not only look backward, but forward. So, too, with cooking. And so there are many recipes made for and with my children. As adults we love to cook together, the kitchen crowded, foods made for each and every time we are together. Making memories with each mouthful!

CD – Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Cemetery Photos – $21.95 – Click to puchase through Paypal.

Included on this CD are 856 names, 740 photos. This has been a five year project, taking photos beginning in the fall of 2008 and through 2012. I’ve just recently put the list together. This project is dear to me because my fifth great-grandfather, Captain John Linton, helped build this church. Many of my Linton, Moran and Edwards family members are buried here. Also, many of the early settlers of Washington County were laid to rest here. In a more modern happenstance, my husband’s father was minister of this church in the early 1960’s. Who knew we would share this common piece of history? Included is an alphabetical listing of those buried at Pleasant Grove, including birth and death dates, and sometimes additional information. Just click on the number in the photo column and the photo will pop up.
