Burials at Winchester Cemetery In Clark County and Obituaries From Local Newspapers

In the early years of my research I focused strictly on my ancestors and family members, as most of us do. After starting Kentucky Kindred Genealogy in April 2011, I broadened the research to include all Kentuckians – after all, they were each someones family! Ritchey and I visited cemeteries that did not include any relatives, just to photograph the gravestones for others and share on the blog! On the day we took the photographs at Winchester Cemetery in Clark County, it was at least our third cemetery of the day. Thankfully photographs have the time and date stamp, and I could look back to verify. This brings back a tearful memory. My mom passed away March 20, 2014, and this was the first genealogy jaunt since her death. We were happily driving north on US127 to our first stop in Versailles and I looked at Ritchey and said, I didn’t tell mom where we were going! Then I realized what I had said. We have all had those moments after losing loved ones. After a bit we laughed at what she would say and continued on, as one does. This day we visited cemeteries in Versailles, Lexington and Winchester. We drove north into Woodford County, then east to Fayette and Clark for a total of 62 miles, one way, and about an hour and a half driving time. Our photos show that we were at Versailles Cemetery by 11:00, Lexington by 2:00 and Winchester by 3:30. I believe there must have been a lunch in Lexington!!
