In the name of God, Amen.  I Giles Stephens of Loudoun County and Dominion of Virginia, being very old and infirm, though in my perfect senses and memory, calling to mind that it is alotted for all men to die, do make this my last Will and Testament, renouncing , disanuling and revoking all wills heretofore by me made, do constitute and appoint my executor hereafter to be named.  First, I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor.  Second I desire that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid out of what estate I shall leave.  Third, I do give and bequeath the use of all my estate real and personal during her natural life, except what shall be hereafter willed, to my loving wife, Elsie Stephens, and after her decease I Fourth.  give and bequeath the land whereon I now live, it being a lease for lives to my son Thomas Stephens and his heirs and assigns.  Fifth.  I give and bequeath to my son Ephraim Stephens all my wearing apparel and after the decease of my wife Elsie Stephens I also give him a mare, five years old last Spring, named Pleasure.  Sixth.  I also desire that after the decease of my aforesaid wife Elsie Stephens, that my estate, except what is before willed, to Ephraim Stephens, Thomas Stephens, Giles Stephens, Ephraim Stephens, Edward Stephens and my daughter Mary Cole, widow of William Cole.  Seventh.  I nominate, constitute and appoint my son Thomas Stephens executor of this my last Will and Testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st day of July 1772.                             Giles Stephens

In the presence of Joseph Abbott, Richard Abbott, Joseph Collins

At a Court held for Loudoun County the 13th of September 1773, this last Will and Testament of Giles Stephens, deceased, was proved in Court by the oath of Joseph Abbott and Joseph Collins, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Thomas Stephens, the only executor therein named, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form, he having sworn to the same and given bond and security according to law.
