Gravestones from St. Charles Catholic Church Cemetery in Marion County, Kentucky

These are a few of the gravestones in St. Charles Catholic Church Cemetery in Marion County, Kentucky.  This was my home parish before my marriage.  The elementary school (St. Charles – at one time a parochial school but when I attended it was a public school – many nuns still taught there!) was just a short distance from the church, and the junior high school was less than a mile up the road.  Surprisingly enough I have only two relatives buried here – my father and a great-great-grandmother, Ellen (Elenora) Lyons Smith.

Benedict Browning 1856-1936

Melisa Mattingly Browning, his wife, 1854-1923

William H. Shaw, December 12, 1874 – May 13, 1903

A. J. Mudd, February 10, 1852 – June 1, 1919

Harriet Carrico Mudd, his wife, February 7, 1854 – September 11, 1906

Sallie C. Mattingly, February 12, 1863 – August 10, 1880

    • Which Montgomery family are you related to? Is it somewhere down the Peter Montgomery family? That is my line – from the original Peter to Charles to William Peter to William Peter to Robert E. Lee Montgomery to his daughter Alice who was my grandmother! Thank you for dropping by – glad you enjoy the blog!
