  1. I love your site and have copied much info that I need for the McIlvoy family history.
My Father Daniel Bernard McIlvoy was the only son and the youngest child of Daniel Bernard McIlvoy and Ruth Baker. There were two older girls in the family Mary Patience and Hazel Bottoms.
My father, Doc McIlvoy, was the Regimental Surgeon for the 82nd Airborne/505RCT. There has been a book published about him and the medics of the 82nd/505th titled “Doc McIlvoy and His Parachuting Medics”. There has also been an action figure made of him for sale online and in France. He made four combat jumps, something that only other medical officers in all of the Armed Forces can claim. Some of the Awards he received include a Citation for Gallantry in Action, the Legend of Merit, a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Unit Citations, Belgium Foragers and Dutch Lanyard, as well as the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds he received in Sicily and Holland.
There was an article in the Springfield Sun by John Overby on Nov 25,2014 that described my father perfectly.
He married Pauline Braddock after the war and had three children, Mary Anne, Carol Lee and Linda Pauline.
His sister Mary Patience married J Paul Bishop and they had one child, Joseph Bishop. His sister Hazel Bottoms married John Dahringer of Lebanon KY and they had two girls Ruth and Joan. I will try and get you more dates if that is what you need to give more info on the website.
