Mrs. Lucy Sale died at her home near Litsey Sunday night after a short illness of pneumonia.  She was a daughter of William and Annie Hardesty and was born March 3, 1832, within a few hundred yards of the place where she lived when she died.  On March 1, 1849, she was married to Rev. Richard Sale and to this union eight children were born, six of whom survive, as follows:  Messrs Evan and Mitt Sale, Mrs. W. H. Yancey, Mrs. Tom Snyder, Mrs. Mattie Burns and Mrs. John Hardesty, of Oklahoma.  Mrs. Sale was a most excellent woman having all those characteristics which go to make noble womanhood.  In manner she was quiet, modest  and rather shunning the public notice.  She was a woman who took pride in having her own home what she thought it should be.  She raised an excellent family, all of whom are worthy citizens.

Funeral services were conducted at Pleasant Grove Tuesday by Rev. W. H. Williams and burial was in the cemetery there.

Richard Sale July 4, 1818 – November 20, 1884
