Know all men by these presents that we, Henry DeWitt and George Earlywine, are held and firmly bound unto Patrick Henry, Governor of Virginia, and his successors, in the penal sum of fifty pounds current money to the which payment well and truly to be made and done to the said Patrick Henry, Esq., or his successors, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this fourth day of November 1836.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas John Edwards, Clerk of the County of Bourbon, has issued a license for the marriage of Henry DeWitt and Margaret Earlywine of this county. If, therefore, there is no lawful cause to obstruct and that no damages issue by means of the said license that the above obligation be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

This is to certify to all whom it may concern that I have contracted a ? of matrimony with Henry DeWitt with the consent of my parents and desire that he might obtain license for the same, 4th November 1786.
