Photograph of a Little Girl – About 1895

I share with you this morning a lovely carte de visite photograph of a little girl – perhaps 2 or 3 years of age. She is standing in a wicker chair, holding what appears to be a flower. Her cherubic face looks a bit unhappy – perhaps she has her eyes fixed on mom standing near the photographer – too far away for her comfort! She did an excellent job, only the flower seems to be a bit blurred.

Our little girl wears a beautiful dress with smocked cuffs – and a white apron over the dress to keep it clean! You see just a bit of wrinkle towards the bottom of the apron, probably occurred when mom was carrying her. Her boots are so shiny! The photograph picks up the lights from the studio.

Although her bangs are straight, the longer hair on the side is curly.

Nothing on the back denotes name or date. Now doesn’t this make you smile?
