Esther Sutton of Union, Kentucky

Scan178 1I have a photo of a lovely woman to share with you today – and her name is written on back!  Esther Sutton of Union, Kentucky, better known as Mrs. Rich!  Try as I might, I could find nothing putting that information in on Ancestry.com.  That’s quite alright – Esther is beautiful, and beautifully dressed.  She wears a black gown with lace around the neck, and a large flower made from similar material.  Her hair is upswept, with a large bow on top.  And Esther has just a wisp of a smile!  And entrancing eyes!

This photo was taken by J. Louis Schlegel in Richmond, Kentucky.  He was born in France in 1850, came to America at a young age, and first lived in Cincinnati.  He was drawn to a quieter locale than the hustle and bustle of a river city and decided to find such a location – and did in Madison County!  Go to the Madison County Historical Society’s FaceBook page to learn more about him and see photos of him, his home, his studio and his grave.  Have a great genealogy-filled day!
