Gravestones at Soldier Creek Cemetery – Marshall County

Today I would like to share with you some of the photos Ritchey and I took at Soldier Creek Cemetery in Marshall County.  The cemetery is located in the southwest section of the county.  If you take Hwy 58 south from Benton, turn left onto Hwy 1522 to find the cemetery.  Be sure and check out the last photo – Lizzie Smith lived to the ripe old age of 105!

Moses W. Bohannon died February 11, 1893, aged 54 years, 3 months, 17 days.  Born 1839.

Together let us sweetly live, together let us die.  And each a starry crown receive, and reign above the sky.

Elizabeth Bohannon, died February 12, 1893, aged 53 years, 7 months, 18 days.  Born 1840.

What a sweet couple – Elizabeth died the day after husband Moses!  A fitting verse on their stone.

‘How desolate our home bereft of thee.’  Lillie Myrtle, beloved wife of T. S. Chester, July 29, 1877 – December 16, 1947.  ‘I know that my redeemer liveth.’

Elizabeth Chester, January 6, 1795 – July 17, 1891.

Eliza J. Ivey Reeves, May 5, 1868 – May 24, 1938.  ‘A tender mother and a faithful friend.’

Levi Calvin Treas, March 12, 1857 – September 27, 1920.  Nancy Ann Treas, February 11, 1856 – June 4, 1922.  ‘Gone but not forgotten.’

Corp. Major Howell, Co. C, 3 Tenn Inf., CSA, Co. H, Tenn Cav, Civil War 1835-1906.

Lizzie Smith, wife of Henry Smith, born 1772, died 1877.  Age 105 years.
