  1. This family is connected to my (Dottie Porter Himes) Porter Family.
John Hantcock Linton 1750-1836 and wfue /Ann Nancy Mason 1752-1832 This Ann (Nancy-nickname in those days) Mason was a sister to George Mason whose daughter Ann Mason b 1792 (perhaps her name was actually Ann Nancy Mason named after her Aunt) ; This Ann Mason b 1792 m. James Porter b. 1767 and James was a son of my 3rd great grandfather, Phillip Porter b either 1750 or 1754 in Alkexandria, Fairfax Co. VA, just outside of Washngton D.C. and he married Nancy Ann Brent of Frederick Co. VA. I have searched since the 1970s to find the parents and/or siblings of Philip Porter without Success? Does anyone have records on this Porter family?

  2. HI I am a Linton, African American and my family is from Bardstown Ky, and I have been working on my family tree, I have been able to find information to a great, great grand father Charlie Linton, who had a wife named laura and they had about six children. I was sent some information about the Linton’s written by Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research, while reading I came across Moses Linton who moved from Springfield to Bardstown in 1821 and the he is a Catholic, which is the religion of myself and many family members that still reside in Bardstown. Do you have any further info on Moses Linton, if he owned slaves, I know his father brought slaves with him from VA. Any help would be most appreciated.

    • Hi Cheryl, I have been researching the enslaved people associated with the Linton family and found a few records for Moses Linton. In John Linton Sr’s will, he left Moses a boy named William. He specificed “boy”vs “man” in the will which leads me to believe William was a child/teenager. In addition, the 1850 census lists Moses Linton as owning a 18 year old girl (unnamed) and a 1 year old baby girl (also unnamed) who was listed as a Mulatto. Best of luck in your research! If you have a family tree saved on Ancestry.com, I’d love the link to it. I linked mine in my bio.
