It’s a busy day, so thought I would just share this photo with you!  Julian’s first trip to a cemetery – New Providence Presbyterian Cemetery in Mercer County!  That’s a red-letter day in anyone’s life!  My hope is that he will become a genealogy enthusiast – and if I have anything to do with it he will!  Perhaps my grandson will carry on my work!

I thought it fitting that we pose in front of Jane McAfee’s stone – as she is the namesake for the Harrodsburg/Mercer County DAR.  The plaque reads – ‘In memory of Jane McAfee, the mother of pioneer men of Kentucky, who by the side of her five sons, was among the first to cross the Cumberlands in 1779.  This stone erected by her descendants and the Jane McAfee Chapter of the DAR.’  If you use the search option at the right-hand top of the page you can find many blogs on Jane McAfee and her sons.

  1. An adorable picture. He looks like he will be a very capable genealogist. You have a lot of wonderful experiences with him to look forward to. Thank you so much for sharing. Marilyn
