Mrs. Martha Champion Waters, an old and respected resident of the community died at her home here in Springfield on Monday from the infirmities of old age.  She was 81 years of age and was the widow of Thomas Waters who has been dead about 45 years.  The deceased was a woman of fine character and had been a resident of the town and county all of her life and enjoyed the respect of a host of friends.  She was the mother of Miss Lula Waters and Messrs. Henry, Ben B. and William Waters, all residents of this place.  The funeral took place yesterday morning at St. Dominic Church and the remains were buried at St. Rose.
