Adaline Ferrall was born in North Carolina, April 3, 1830, and passed from this earthly life in Rushville, Illinois, April 4, 1904, having reached the age of 74 years. She became the wife of Ephraim Lear in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and afterwards moved to Todd County, Kentucky, where most of her life was spent. There her children were reared and there her husband died in 1862. For one and one-half years past she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Abel Dettra, of this city.
She was the mother of six children, three sons and three daughters. Of these one son and three daughters survive. At the age of 16 years she accepted the hope in Christ and united with the Baptist church. After her marriage she joined the Methodist church of which her husband was a member. Her life was characterized by religious fervor. To her the unseen world was real. She longed for the time of her transition during her suffering of more than a year’s duration. She gladly responded to the welcome summons of death and peacefully fell asleep.
Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by C. B. Dabney of the Christian church. Interment took place in the Rushville cemetery.

I have been wondering what happened to Adaline Lear and her daughter Nancy Ann Lear Zeisler Dettra since the 1980’s. I never would have known they ended up in Rushville without your posting. Thank you so much – that ends a mystery. Do you know if Schuyler Co. death certificates were kept in 1904 and had parents names.
I’m so glad this post answered one of your questions! I can’t remember if there were death certificates in the county clerk’s office. We visited Schuyler County in 2006, and the county clerk’s officials were most helpful!
