Dr. C. S. Abell died at 3 o’clock Monday morning, at his home on Main Street, after a protracted illness in the 87th year of his age.  He was a native of New York state and came to Harrodsburg in 1840.  He married Miss Mary Moore, daughter of Hon. Thomas P. Moore, who was minister to Bogota under President Jackson, and who also represented this district in Congress many years.  Deceased served as a surgeon in the war with Mexico and afterwards served this county in the legislature and was county clerk for one term, and was also a police judge for a number of years.  He was a man of most positive conviction, but had many friends.  He was the oldest member of Montgomery Lodge of Odd Fellows.  He is survived by only one child, Miss Mollie Abell, who has spent many years ministering to the wants of her father.  Funeral services, conducted by Dr. Edward E. Weaver, were held at the Assembly Presbyterian Church Tuesday afternoon, and the interment took place in Spring Hill Cemetery under the auspices of the Odd Fellows.
