Mr. Dudley M. Bowman, Sr., aged 81, a life long resident, of the county, died Wednesday week, of paralysis, at his home in this city, and in his death the county lost one of its best citizens.  In early life he was instrumental in founding the Cane Run Christian Church, and for 60 years was one of its staunchest friends.  He was married in 1842 to Miss Virginia Smith, daughter of Abram Smith, a descendant of a highly-connected pioneer family.  Six children blessed their union – Mr. D. B. Bowman, deceased; Mr. A. Smith Bowman,of Lexington; Mr. Dudley Bowman, Jr., of Kansas City; Mrs. Nannie Moore, Mrs. John L. Cassell and Mrs. Carrie Ringo, the latter dead.  The funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Friday at 11 a.m., Rev. B. J. Pinkerton, of Stanford, officiating and the burial took place in Spring Hill Cemetery.
