Original Marriage Bond – Washington County, Kentucky
Know all men by these presents that we, William Mattingly and John Mattingly, are held and firmly bound unto his excellency, James Garrard, Esquire, Governor of Kentucky, and his successors in the penal sum of fifty pounds current money, the payment of which well and truly to be made. We bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 20th day of July, 1801.
The condition of this obligation is such if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound William Mattingly and Jane Peterson, daughter to Henry Peterson, then this obligation to void, else remain in full force. William Mattingly, John Mattingly

Thank You, Danise Mattingly Isaacs
