Elizabeth Shewmaker, August 16, 1846 – April 1, 1904
from The Harrodsburg Herald, Mercer County, Kentucky
Thursday, April 7, 1904
The body of Mrs. Elizabeth Shewmaker, who at one time resided here, was brought to this place Saturday for burial. She had been living with her son, Rev. Orpheus Shewmaker, at Georgetown, for some years, and last week sustained a severe stroke of paralysis from the effects of which she died Friday. She was greatly beloved among the members of her son’s congregation, in the town of her adoption, and a number of friends followed her remains to this place. The services were conducted by Dr. J. G. Hunter, of the First Presbyterian Church. Her husband and several children are buried here, but a son, Rev. Orpheus Shewmaker, survives her, one of the brightest young ministers in the Presbyterian church.
