Know all men by these presents that we, John Mattingly and Basil Montgomery, are held and firmly bound unto his excellency James Garrard, Esq., Governor of Kentucky, and his successors, in the penal sum of fifty pounds current money, to the payment of which well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 31st day of October, 1801.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound John Mattingly and Milly Montgomery, daughter to Basil Montgomery, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue.

I am working on Knott genealogy. I have traced them to Meade County, Ky. Raymond Cemetery. I found your posts and believe the Knotts are related to your Mattinglys.
